Jackie Chan film director fancies joint projects in Iran

Hong Kong action movie director Teddy Chan, currently at Fajr Int’l Film Festival, says he desires to jointly conduct projects with Iran.

Hong Kong Director Teddy Chan, who helmed a film featuring famous action movie star Jackie Chan, says he would like to have joint projects with Iranian Cinema.

Speaking on the sidelines of a workshop conducted by the director at Fajr international Film Fest, Chan was quoted by the media as saying, “I want to do co-productions with Iran,” adding that “I have seen ‘A Separation’ movie” by Iranian director Asghar Farhadi from Iranian cinema which I like very much.

Answering a question about how he thinks of action movies by A-list directors, he noted, “It’s a man-to-man movie. There is love and hate in between too. They don’t make this kind of movies in the West. … Many Chinese people go to Hollywood, like Ang Lee and Jackie Chan. They love Kung Fu movies but they don’t know how to make them in Hollywood. That’s why” Hong Kong directors make them for Hollywood.

He also referred to his movie starring Jackie Chan, saying, “When I was 18 and he was 23 I was his first personal assistant. So our relationship started at that time and continued.”

'The Accidental Spy' is a Hong Kong martial arts action film, starring Jackie Chan and directed by Teddy Chan.
